Not a bad idea, might suggest that to her.
I got some 4inch thick foam to put around the motor housing and it worked a treat, just tied it around the outside and it muffles the sound quite a bit, I think now the noise is mostly vibrations through the timber decking, but it is much more bearable now.
when I checked the water before I left for work this morning it was 85 degrees, so when I get home this afternoon it should be nice and warm.
