Leisurely retirement is not reality. I retired two years ago from a fire department outside Boston and immediately my schedule went from 3 to 4 days a week of hot tub repair to a solid 6 days a week (and long days at that). My wife says I am working harder now than I did when I had two jobs.
Regarding a circ pump. Forgive me because I forgot which tub you have. I think you have one of the Catalina tubs. Many Catalina's do use a small circ pump that is generally programmed to run 24/7, but a lot of them run the heat circuit via low speed on pump #1. If you have this type, without a small circ pump, I'd say you'd have to run pump #1 on low speed for circulation. With this style, you cannot completely shut down the jets.
Do you know if you heat off one of the main pumps?

: then again, maybe not....the whole world
: seems to want me to write them insurance
: again...and I am too busy to do anything
: else lately...this is the craziest
: retirement any person ever lived through...
