I bought some real TSP about six months ago when I found it in a paint store. It didn't do anywhere's near as good a job on cleaning the filters as the Cascade did...it does a nice job on painted walls though...
Funny, John, but I have been opening the spines up all around the filters since I first starting cleaning them cause that's were all the dead bugs hide out...I have these very tight filters as opposed to the soft loose ones that look like lamp shade wannabees...they are about $65 apiece if I remember correctly to replace.
I bought a new product on the advice of a very knowledgeable sales man at the Kiefer retail store in Waukegan IL a couple of weeks ago and am going to try it out this week when I drain the water (finally) It's called Spa Purge and it claims to restore spa plumbing to original condition and remove built up organic waste...supposed to be an enzyme based product. A company called Natural Chemistry in Ct makes it.
That sounded good to me so I popped for the price notwithstanding I still have a half bottle of the stuff I got from Doc last year that produces enough foam to float Alaska ...Swirlaway...Do you know anything about it before I try it? You are supposed to put it into your tub 24 hours before you plan to drain it and just let it sit there and work its way through things. FIlters are supposed to be out and circulation pump running and jets off.
My big question on this stuff is how on my Cataline XL6000 do I keep the circulation pump running (I think that's pump 1) but keep the jets off? I never turn any jets on, (that I am aware I am doing so) just push tabs on the control panel for jets 1,2, or 3 or the blower? Shall I set the filtering to go for a 24 hour nonstop time?
Have you heard of anyone who used it and their ideas on it, good, bad or indifferent. This guy is very knowledgeable and he said it was terrific..so I bought it...
Gotta tell ya, If there is one thing I really could use, it would be a set of clean pipes...
