I would HIGHLY suggest you dump the Bromine method and go with a Nature2/Dichlor regimine. With Bromine, you're always sitting in a chemical soup IMO. Most people who try both prefer the N2/chlorine method (not all, but certainly most from what I've run into) for the type reasons you are referring to. Give it a try so you have a basis of comparison and I'd be very surprised if you ever went back to the Bromine. If your dealer says he prefers Bromine tell him "I understand but I want to try both so that I can say which is MYYYY preference".
: We purchased a new Sundance Cameo in December.
: Our first hot tub. Love it, however, the
: water has developed a fizz and smells
: "chemically" - the dealer says it
: apparently has an overload of chemicals and
: has developed an excess of ozone gas.: We were told to only add Bromine tablets
: (2/week) and a capful of DuraChlor which we
: have done. I check the levels every week
: with the test strips and have occasionally
: had to add Ph up. And a little bit of
: anti-foam every now and then.: This also happened in March and we had to
: change the water. Now about 8 weeks later,
: it is happening for the 2nd time. What are
: we doing wrong?: In addition, the filter looks like it has
: "sunk in" on one side. How would
: that happen?: Thanks for helping a newbie out. Trying to
: learn the proper procedures.
