If your main concern is getting out cheaply, and don't mind potential repairs, why not try out a used tub? I bought one used (ebay), and am taking the good with the bad. At the very least, it is an excellent way to learn about the workings of hot tubs in general. I don't have any major regrets and will know exactly what I am looking for when I shop around for a new one. I kept an eye on the listings for about 2 years before finally taking the plunge.
Based on my experience with my used big box, I plan to defintely go top of the line next time around (when i can afford it :)
