hot tub and spa message board

can too many people in hot tub cause pump failure?

I was recently told that too many people in the hot tub caused a pump to fail. Is this possible? Would a pump just die if too many people were in a hot tub? How do I tell if that is true or if the pump just wore out from age? I find it hard to believe that many people using a hot tub would cause a pump to fail.

Thoughts?
